Refresh Worn Marble & Natural Stone
The right treatment depends on the problem. A stain is absorbed discoloration, so the source and the stone both matter when deciding how to address it. An etch is different. It is a chemical reaction that affects the surface itself and is often corrected through refinishing steps such as honing and polishing. For example, marble floor polishing can refine a dull or worn finish. Countertop etch correction, stain removal, chip repair, and scratch removal address different types of surface damage.
Honing uses abrasives to create a smooth matte or satin finish, while polishing refines the surface toward a higher sheen. An impregnating sealer may help reduce absorption and improve stain resistance, but it does not prevent etching, scratches, wear, or every stain. Some stones may not need sealing, so the surface should be assessed first.
